Liverpool FC have reportedly agreed a £60 million deal to sign French defender Mads Jacquet from Ligue 1 side Rennes.
The transfer, which reflects the Reds’ intent to strengthen their defensive options ahead of the new season, comes after weeks of negotiations between the two clubs. Jacquet, known for his pace, composure on the ball, and versatility in defence, is expected to bolster Liverpool’s backline both in domestic competitions and in Europe.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is said to be excited about the addition, viewing Jacquet as a long-term solution to defensive depth and an asset for high-intensity pressing play.
The 22-year-old centre-back has impressed in Ligue 1 with Rennes, earning recognition for his defensive awareness, aerial ability, and contribution to the team’s build-up play. His arrival is expected to compete with existing options at Anfield while providing flexibility across the defensive unit.
