The operation was disclosed in a Thursday statement issued in Kano by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Sadiq Muhammad-Maigatari, who quoted State Commander Dahiru Yahaya-Lawal as saying the raid formed part of the ongoing “Operation Ramadan Mubarak.”
According to him, the exercise was designed to safeguard public health and preserve the sanctity of the fasting period. He added that the action followed credible intelligence provided by a concerned community member, leading to the recovery of various illicit substances.
Items seized included cannabis, diazepam, Exol-5, a street drug known as “Suck and Die” pregabalin tablets, and other controlled substances. All exhibits are currently in agency custody while investigations continue.
“Our objective is to ensure safe streets and enable residents observe a peaceful and fulfilling Ramadan. If some individuals disregard their faith, health and the safety of others, the agency will act decisively to protect the wider community,” the commander said.
He commended residents for supplying useful intelligence and urged continued cooperation in the fight against drug abuse and trafficking. He noted that the operation aligns with directives from NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Mohamed Buba-Marwa to sustain nationwide enforcement against narcotics offences.
