Peter Obi has thanked citizens for their solidarity following a reported attempt on his life by hoodlums in Benin City, Edo State.
Obi made the remark Wednesday on X after an attack involving him and members of the African Democratic Congress. He expressed appreciation for prayers, calls, and public concern shown after the incident.
He also acknowledged support for the family of elder statesman and former governor John Oyegun, as well as former governor Oserheimen Osunbor, noting that the encouragement strengthened his faith in shared humanity and hope for a better nation.
Reflecting on past experiences, Obi said insecurity and violence he witnessed years ago in Anambra motivated his decision to seek the governorship, stressing that leadership must restore order, safety, and public trust. Quoting Plato, he urged citizens to participate actively in governance and choose leaders defined by competence, character, commitment, and compassion.
