Daddy Freeze: “Religion Has No Results in Nigeria”

Nigerian media personality, Ifedayo Olarinde, popularly known as Daddy Freeze, has stirred fresh controversy with remarks challenging the role of religion in Nigeria’s socio-economic progress.

Speaking during a recent episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast, the outspoken broadcaster argued that religion, as widely practiced in Nigeria, has failed to deliver the tangible outcomes it promises, particularly in areas of prosperity, unity, and national development.

Daddy Freeze questioned the correlation often drawn between religiosity and divine favour, noting a stark contrast between Nigeria and less religious nations that have achieved significant advancements in infrastructure and quality of life.

“Where is the prosperity? Where is the love?” he queried, emphasizing that despite Nigeria’s deep religious culture, the expected benefits remain largely absent. He pointed to countries such as Japan, which he described as less religious but significantly more developed, suggesting that their citizens enjoy what he termed “heaven on earth” through improved living standards and functional systems.

The media personality further referenced recent 2026 statistics, claiming that Nigeria’s life expectancy stands at approximately 54 years one of the lowest globally raising concerns about the disconnect between religious devotion and societal well-being.

Expanding his critique, Daddy Freeze also took aim at the practice of tithing, a central doctrine in many religious institutions. He argued that despite the substantial financial contributions made by Nigerians in the form of tithes, there has been little measurable impact on individual prosperity or national growth.

“We pay more tithes than taxes in this country, yet our prayers and sacrifices do not reflect in the condition of our nation,” he stated.
