President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has strongly condemned the recent attacks in Maiduguri, describing them as desperate acts by terrorists under sustained pressure from Nigerian security forces.
In a firm statement, the president expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and extended sympathy to the injured, while standing in solidarity with residents of Borno State during what he described as a difficult period.
Tinubu said the attacks represent the “final desperate attempts” of criminal elements seeking to instill fear, stressing that ongoing military operations have significantly weakened their capacity. He assured Nigerians that efforts to eliminate terrorism would be intensified nationwide.
The president commended the bravery of the armed forces and civilian task groups for successfully repelling coordinated assaults on military positions in the state, noting that security forces remain resolute in crushing insurgent activities.
Highlighting recent measures, Tinubu revealed that he approved additional equipment and operational support for security agencies during a high-level meeting held last weekend.
He further directed security chiefs to relocate to Maiduguri to take direct charge of operations, while instructing emergency responders to ensure adequate medical care for the injured.
Reaffirming his administration’s position, Tinubu declared that terrorists would find no safe haven anywhere in Nigeria, vowing they would be tracked, confronted, and decisively defeated.
“Nigeria will not succumb to fear,” the president stated, underscoring his commitment to restoring peace and security across the country.
