Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo has publicly dismissed widespread rumours of his death, describing the claims as false, malicious, and the handiwork of mischief makers.

Responding to the rumours, Obasanjo was quoted as saying, “I dey kampe,” a colloquial expression meaning “I am strong and well,” while affirming his belief that God has promised him long life .
Media sources further reported that Obasanjo described those behind the false report as “never-do-well” individuals bent on spreading misinformation, urging the public to disregard the claims .
The fake report reportedly included what was presented as a final personal message from the elder statesman. However, Obasanjo and his media aides clarified that he neither wrote nor authorised any such letter, stressing that it was entirely fabricated .
The incident highlights the growing challenge of misinformation on social media platforms, where unverified claims can quickly gain traction before official clarification is issued.
As of the latest confirmations, Obasanjo remains alive and in good health.
