Nigerian businessman and public figure Isaac Fayose has revealed the heartbreaking reality of his wife’s fight against cancer, sharing that neither wealth nor possessions could ease her suffering.
In an emotional Instagram video, Fayose described arriving in Australia to visit his family, only to find his wife critically ill and too weak to speak. “Our one million dollar house couldn’t save my wife. My wealth couldn’t save her; she was lying there,” he tearfully said. “It is looking like I have to be daddy and mummy at the same time. God doesn’t give us a burden we can’t carry.”
Turning his personal pain into a broader message, Fayose criticised Nigerian leaders for mismanaging public funds while healthcare facilities remain under-resourced. He cited reports of hospitals in Ekiti operating without light or water, questioning the value of wealth in the face of preventable suffering.
Fayose also appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting his age of 74, and urged him to step aside to allow someone else to address the country’s pressing challenges. “People are going through a lot,” he said, highlighting the struggles of ordinary Nigerians.
The video has resonated widely on social media, drawing sympathy for Fayose and sparking conversations about the state of healthcare and governance in Nigeria.
