Iyabo Ojo Bows Out of Akindele–Abraham Feud, Says “I Can’t Beg Anymore”

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Iyabo Ojo has announced her decision to step away from mediating in the long-standing rift between industry stars Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham, citing renewed tensions and personal backlash.

In a detailed statement shared via Instagram on Tuesday, Ojo addressed criticisms surrounding her involvement, making it clear she would no longer intervene in the dispute.

“For those maligning my character and calling me unprintable names… this is the first and last time I will speak on this,” she wrote.

Ojo revealed that her relationship with Akindele spans several years, albeit with past disagreements. She admitted to previously handling a conflict poorly by publicly criticising Akindele over issues linked to Abraham’s film.

Reflecting on her reconciliation efforts, Ojo said she later made peace with Akindele and went further to broker a truce between both actresses.

“I cried, knelt down, and begged both parties to embrace peace, which they eventually did,” she disclosed, noting that the agreement included a commitment to resolve disputes privately and avoid public confrontations.

However, the fragile peace reportedly collapsed in December following controversy surrounding a cinema release, when Abraham raised concerns about alleged sabotage of her film—sparking speculation and reigniting tensions, particularly among fans who pointed fingers at Akindele.

Ojo also addressed Abraham’s absence from her upcoming project, The Return of Arinzo, explaining that the actress had initially been cast but withdrew due to exhaustion and travel commitments.

Despite the setback, Ojo said they resolved their differences, though the experience added to her frustrations.

Expressing disappointment over the ongoing feud, she stated: “The sky is big enough for all. I have tried my best, but I can’t beg anyone anymore. I don’t want to be involved again. When they are ready, they will make peace.”

The situation has drawn renewed public attention following a viral video from the premiere of Ojo’s film at the Balmoral Event Centre, where fans observed a seemingly tense moment between Akindele and Abraham.

The Return of Arinzo is scheduled to premiere in cinemas nationwide from April 3, as Ojo shifts focus back to her film career amid the ongoing industry drama.
