Nollywood actor and producer Kunle Afolayan has voiced his concern over the growing wave of violent and deadly attacks across Nigeria, describing the situation as deeply troubling. The filmmaker shared his thoughts in a post on his Instagram page, where he reflected on the increasing insecurity affecting communities nationwide.
Afolayan said the recent reports of kidnappings and other security challenges have weighed heavily on him, noting that many Nigerians now go about their daily lives with fear and uncertainty. He revealed that the situation has become so alarming that he often feels anxious whenever he travels by road.
“My heart is heavy with the disturbing stories of kidnappings and insecurity across our nation,” he wrote. “It is painful that many of us now go about our daily lives with fear and uncertainty. My heart is in my mouth when on the road these days. I share in the concerns of countless families and pray for our safety.”
Despite the grim realities, the 51-year-old actor urged Nigerians not to allow fear to overwhelm them. He called on citizens to remain compassionate toward one another and to resist panic in the face of ongoing challenges.
According to him, Nigeria has overcome difficult periods in the past, and the resilience of its people has always prevailed. He encouraged Nigerians to embrace unity, hope, and solidarity rather than division and despair, even as troubling news continues to dominate public discourse.
Afolayan also offered prayers for peace and protection across the country. He expressed hope that calm would return to affected communities, that vulnerable citizens would be safeguarded, and that families facing uncertainty would find comfort and strength during these difficult times. He concluded with the Yoruba phrase, “Ile o ni le wa, Ona o ni na wa.”
