Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) chieftain Datti Baba-Ahmed has expressed confidence in former Cross River State governor Donald Duke’s ability to win Nigeria’s presidency, claiming he could defeat both President Bola Tinubu and Labour Party’s Peter Obi in a free and fair election.
Speaking during an interview on Symfoni TV, Baba-Ahmed described Duke as one of the most capable and accomplished political figures in the country. He argued that many Nigerians have failed to fully appreciate the former governor’s leadership qualities and national appeal.
According to him, Duke’s political profile and experience place him among the strongest contenders for the nation’s highest office. He maintained that the former Cross River governor possesses the competence and vision needed to lead the country effectively.
Baba-Ahmed also noted that Duke recently emerged as the presidential candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party, positioning him as a key figure in the party’s plans for future elections.
Drawing parallels with the 2023 presidential race, he warned that many Nigerians may be making the same mistake they made when they underestimated Peter Obi’s electoral strength. He suggested that public perception may once again be overlooking a candidate with significant political potential.
The PRP chieftain insisted that Duke has what it takes to triumph in a credible electoral contest, declaring that “in a free and fair election in Nigeria, Donald Duke is the winner.” His remarks add to growing discussions about possible political alignments and contenders ahead of future electoral battles.
