The Miss Nigeria Organisation has issued a strongly worded apology to veteran Nollywood actress and cultural icon Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde following a tense on-camera exchange that has triggered widespread debate on social media.
The incident occurred during the 46th Miss Nigeria Patrons & Board Dinner, an exclusive, invite-only event held on March 22, 2026, at Eko Hotel & Suites. The gathering marked the official launch of the 2026 pageant season under the theme “She is Made of More.”
The high-profile evening attracted a host of industry leaders, creatives, policymakers, and celebrities, including Rita Dominic, who chairs the organisation, alongside Funke Akindele, Iyabo Ojo, and Ini Edo, among others.
The event also featured the Daily Times Young Fashion Designer of the Year Award and a keynote address delivered by business leader Aisha Sulaiman Achimugu.
Controversy, however, erupted after a short video clip from the evening went viral online. The footage showed Omotola appearing visibly irritated during what appeared to be an impromptu red-carpet-style interview.
In the clip, a media representative is heard asking the actress to introduce herself with a question perceived by many as unprofessional “Who am I here with?” a moment that quickly drew criticism and sparked conversations about media etiquette and respect for industry veterans.
In response to the backlash, the Miss Nigeria Organisation acknowledged the incident and extended an apology, signalling its commitment to upholding professionalism and respect at its events.
