NELFUND Strengthens Commitment to Higher Education with Visit to University of BeninThe Managing Director and Chief Executive of National Economic Reconstruction Fund (NELFUND), Mr. Akintunde Sawyerr, led a high-level delegation on an official visit to the University of Benin, where they were warmly received by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Edabo E. Omoregie, SAN, and members of the university management team.

The visit was part of a sensitization and engagement session aimed at creating awareness and deepening understanding of the NELFUND Student Loan Scheme. During the session, Mr. Sawyerr and his team highlighted the scheme’s eligibility criteria, operational framework, application process, benefits, and long-term prospects for students across Nigeria. The initiative is designed to ensure that qualified students have access to financial support that allows them to pursue higher education without undue financial burden.

Speaking during the session, Mr. Sawyerr emphasized NELFUND’s dedication to bridging the gap between students and affordable educational opportunities. “Our goal is to make sure that no eligible Nigerian student is left behind in accessing higher education,” he said. “We are committed to providing practical solutions that empower students to achieve their academic and professional goals.”

He added that initiatives like the NELFUND Student Loan Scheme help strengthen the university’s efforts in fostering academic excellence and inclusivity.

The visit to the University of Benin is part of a broader nationwide effort to ensure that all eligible Nigerian students can take full advantage of the opportunities provided by the Student Loan Scheme.
