The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) has strongly condemned the latest ruling by the Confederation of African Football Appeals Board, describing the decision as “unfair, unprecedented, and unacceptable,” and warning that it undermines the credibility of African football.
The dispute stems from the controversial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) fixture between Senegal and Morocco. In a dramatic reversal, CAF’s Appeals Board overturned an earlier decision and awarded Morocco a 3-0 victory by forfeit.
In its official statement, the FSF acknowledged CAF’s explanation that Morocco’s right to be heard was not respected during the initial proceedings. However, the Senegalese body firmly rejected both the reasoning and the outcome, insisting the ruling compromises principles of fairness and due process.
CAF cited breaches of Articles 82 and 84 of AFCON regulations by Senegal—findings that ultimately led to the decision in favor of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation.
Maintaining that the verdict casts serious doubt on the integrity of football governance on the continent, the FSF has announced plans to challenge the decision at the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne.
The case is expected to draw significant attention, as it raises broader concerns about disciplinary procedures and transparency within African football administration.
