Shockwaves in Nigerian Music: Crayon Publicly Criticises Don Jazzy and Mavin Records Execs

Nigerian singer Crayon has ignited controversy online after publicly criticising the leadership of his record label in a series of social media posts.

The artist, who is signed to Blowtime Entertainment, an imprint of Mavin Records, took to his X account to voice frustration with the label’s management. In one post, Crayon seemingly took aim at the label’s founder, Don Jazzy, writing: “Don Jazzy na my boy!!!!!! Una dey maddddd!!?? Shayennnnn sharayyyyyy333.”

Crayon also targeted Tega Oghenejobo, the Chief Operating Officer of Mavin Records, calling him the “highest criminal.” In a more startling revelation, the singer alleged that he lost his mother because of the label, though he did not provide further context or details.

Another post that quickly drew attention read: “Mavin is going down!!!!!!,” prompting speculation about a potential fallout between Crayon and the record label. The posts have sparked widespread reactions from fans and industry observers, with many questioning the future of Crayon’s relationship with Mavin Records.

It remains unclear whether Crayon’s X account may have been compromised. However, he continues to post normally on his Instagram page, giving no indication that his accounts were hacked.

Crayon recently shared details of a potential new venture, Olodum Entertainment, including a new booking email on his Instagram page. This has intensified rumors that the singer may be planning to part ways with Mavin Records, though neither Crayon nor the label has officially confirmed any split.

Crayon joined Blowtime Entertainment, a subsidiary of Mavin Records, in May 2019 and has released several songs under the label since signing.
