Francis Uzoho has been reinstated as the first-choice goalkeeper of Nigeria’s Super Eagles ahead of upcoming international fixtures.
Head coach Eric Chelle named Uzoho as the team’s number one goalkeeper in the latest squad selection announced in March 2026. The decision comes amid the temporary absence of Stanley Nwabali, who is currently inactive, and Maduka Okoye, who opted out of recent national team engagements.
Uzoho’s return to the starting role signals renewed confidence in the shot-stopper as the Super Eagles prepare for crucial matches on the international calendar.
Arthur Okonkwo has also been included in the squad and is expected to provide competition in goal. However, the goalkeeper is still awaiting FIFA clearance to feature in competitive fixtures for Nigeria.
With the goalkeeping hierarchy reshaped, attention will be on Uzoho to deliver commanding performances as the three-time African champions pursue success in their forthcoming assignments.
