WAEC Releases 2026 First Series CB-WASSCE Results, Records Slight Performance Improvement

The West African Examinations Council has announced the release of results for the 2026 first series of the Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination (CB-WASSCE) for private candidates, reporting a marginal improvement in performance.

In a statement issued on Friday from the council’s headquarters in Yaba, Lagos, the Acting Head of Public Affairs, Moyosola F. Adesina, confirmed that more candidates obtained credits in at least five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.

According to the council, the examination was conducted between January 28 and February 14 across 166 centres nationwide.

Adesina attributed the successful conduct and improved outcomes to the commitment of WAEC staff and examiners.

“The results are a testament to the dedication and hard work of our staff and examiners. We wish all the candidates the best in their future endeavours,” she said.

The coordination and marking of scripts were carried out at designated centres in Lagos, Enugu and Kaduna, with a total of 608 examiners participating in the exercise between February 26 and March 13.

The release of the results marks another milestone in WAEC’s transition toward computer-based examinations, aimed at improving efficiency, transparency and overall examination integrity.
