Nigerian content creator Kevin Chinedu, widely known as Kevinblak, has revealed that he was offered financial incentives to soften his satirical content critical of government and public officials.
Speaking during an interview on Arise TV, the comedian disclosed that unnamed political figures approached him with promises of wealth and a better lifestyle if he altered the tone of his skits.
According to him, the offer included substantial payments in foreign currency, alongside claims that some of his colleagues were already benefiting from similar arrangements.
“They said they were going to change my life, that I’m earning crumbs… give me dollars. They mentioned that my colleagues are in the game,” he said, adding that he was invited to Abuja with assurances of financial rewards.
Despite facing personal financial pressures at the time, Kevinblak said he turned down the offer, insisting that he would not compromise his values or creative independence for money.
“I looked at it and said no I am who I am. I’ve never done anything because I was influenced by money. If I choose to do something, it has to come from me,” he stated.
