Kenneth Okonkwo Warns ADC Aspirants Against Defecting, Says Exit Signals Support for Tinubu

Nigerian actor and lawyer, Kenneth Okonkwo, has warned that any presidential aspirant who exits the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition over internal disagreements risks being perceived as politically compromised.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, Okonkwo said any aspirant who abandons the coalition amid ongoing internal challenges could be viewed as acting against its collective interest.

He specifically noted that if former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi fails to secure the ADC presidential ticket and chooses to leave, supporters may interpret the move as indirectly benefiting President Bola Tinubu.

“Anybody, any presidential aspirant in ADC, seeing what everybody is going through in ADC, that leaves ADC for another party one, he’s a mobile supporter, and two, he is working for Tinubu,” Okonkwo said.

He argued that with coalition leaders already confronting internal crises despite maintaining unity, any individual who departs the alliance would likely be seen as undermining the opposition movement.

According to him, leaving the coalition after failing to secure the party’s presidential ticket would amount to political compromise and could be interpreted as indirectly supporting Tinubu’s re-election prospects.

Okonkwo maintained that all coalition members must remain united if the alliance hopes to pose a serious challenge in the 2027 presidential election.
