The National Vice Chairman of the Labour Party (South-West), Abayomi Arabambi, has claimed that key figures within the party, including Alex Otti, have agreed to support President Bola Tinubu for a second term in 2027.
Speaking during an interview on News Central on Thursday, Arabambi said the decision was based on the belief that the presidency should remain in the South-West for two terms.
According to him, the arrangement is intended to allow the South-West complete what he described as its eight-year turn in office.
Arabambi also dismissed speculation about a possible return of former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi to the party, insisting that such a move would not be accepted.
He claimed the party had resolved, amid its internal crisis, to align behind Tinubu’s re-election bid rather than field Obi again.
The Labour Party chieftain further criticised former Finance Minister Nenadi Usman over alleged efforts to bring Obi back into the party, accusing her of acting in Obi’s interest.
According to Arabambi, Usman’s actions stem from fears that Obi may fail to secure the presidential ticket of the coalition-backed African Democratic Congress.
He maintained that the Labour Party has moved on from Obi and remains committed to supporting Tinubu in the next presidential election.
