Reality TV star and former Big Brother Naija winner, Phyna, has claimed that her relationship status is largely influenced by how Nigerian men perceive confident and independent women.
Speaking during a recent livestream on Twitch, Phyna said she remains single because many Nigerian men are intimidated by women who are outspoken, self-reliant, and assertive.
According to her, a significant number of men prefer partners they can easily influence or control, a mindset she believes disadvantages independent women in the dating market.
“Most Nigerian men prefer women they can control when choosing a life partner, and they avoid independent women,” she said.
Phyna added that expressive women like herself often face added scrutiny, as men tend to judge them based on their social media presence and public persona without taking time to know them personally.
She argued that this perception creates a barrier to genuine connection, leaving many confident women misunderstood and unfairly excluded from romantic consideration.
