Inter Miami captain Lionel Messi has reportedly completed a landmark move into football ownership after acquiring 100 percent control of Spanish third-division side UE Cornellà.
The deal makes the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner the outright owner of the club, marking a significant expansion of his influence in football beyond his playing career.
UE Cornellà currently sit third in their Tercera División group, five points behind league leaders Manresa. The club has already secured a playoff spot and remains in contention for promotion as the season progresses.
Messi’s move into ownership places him in a growing group of elite footballers investing in clubs, following a similar step previously associated with long-time rival Cristiano Ronaldo, who has also explored club ownership interests in Spain.
The development adds another chapter to Messi’s evolving football journey, shifting from global icon on the pitch to decision-maker off it.
