Nigerian music star Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has dismissed claims that a woman influenced the renewed crisis within the Okoye family, insisting the dispute stems from long-standing issues of trust, loyalty, and financial management.
In a series of posts on X, the former member of P-Square rejected what he described as a misleading narrative linking women to the family fallout.
“Before you drag any woman into this! No woman directed or advised anyone to steal from what I worked for over the years,” he wrote.
Mr P stressed that the rift predates marriages within the family, suggesting the roots of the conflict go back more than two decades.
“None of us were even married 20-something years ago when this whole betrayal and stealing started,” he added.
The singer acknowledged the emotional toll of the situation but said he has chosen to prioritise his peace of mind, even if it means distancing himself from family members.
“Yes, it’s painful… but I had to set boundaries. Blood isn’t thicker than my peace of mind,” he stated.
He also confirmed that the dispute remains unresolved and is now being addressed legally.
“We are still in court,” he revealed.
The crisis involves Mr P, his twin brother Paul Okoye, and their elder brother Jude Okoye, whose management role has been at the centre of the long-running dispute.
P-Square, once one of Africa’s most successful music groups, first split in 2017 over disagreements on management, finances, and creative direction. Although the duo reunited in 2021, tensions resurfaced, leading to another breakdown.
The family dispute has since escalated into legal proceedings, with Jude Okoye currently facing charges by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over alleged money laundering and diversion of royalties allegations he has denied.
The case is ongoing at the Lagos State High Court and has been adjourned to May 15, 2026, as the long-running feud continues to draw public attention.
