Liam Rosenior has insisted he retains the full support of Chelsea's ownership despite a disastrous run of form that has left the Blues' Champions League qualification hopes hanging by a thread.
Four straight Premier League defeats culminating in Saturday's 1-0 home loss to Manchester United have seen Chelsea tumble seven points adrift of fifth-placed Liverpool. With the top five now looking like a distant dream, the mood around Stamford Bridge has turned toxic.
Boos rang out at the final whistle against United, following a street protest by supporters outside the ground before kick-off aimed at owners BlueCo.
Co-owner Behdad Eghbali moved to publicly back Rosenior last week, expressing confidence in the long-term project under the head coach who replaced Enzo Maresca in January.
Asked on Monday whether he felt that support, Rosenior was unequivocal.
"One hundred percent," he said. "They have been supportive of me in our daily conversations magnificent in their support of me and the team.
"We're aligned that we need to win games of football in the now, but that doesn't go against what we're trying to do, which is to bring consistent, long-term success to this club."
Chelsea travel to ninth-placed Brighton on Tuesday desperate to halt the slide. With only three points separating the Blues from 12th-placed Fulham, Rosenior's side are in real danger of missing out on European competition altogether.
"We've made it very difficult for ourselves," the head coach admitted. "We have to be honest and realistic about that.
"But what we can't do is give up. We have to keep fighting. We have to make sure we go to Brighton with similar attributes to what I saw against Manchester United our energy, intensity and engagement were good.
"But we didn't keep a clean sheet and we didn't take our chances. We need to be more clinical and more ruthless in both boxes."
