Nigerian singer Adekunle Gold has dismissed widespread reports claiming that his wife, singer Simi, gave birth to twins, clarifying instead that the couple welcomed a baby boy.
The music star made the revelation during an interview on Great Day Houston, a morning programme on KHOU 11 television in Houston, Texas.
While speaking with the show’s host, who referenced reports that the couple had “welcomed twins in early March,” Adekunle Gold immediately corrected the statement.
“Not even twins. That’s the internet, by the way. We have a son,” the singer said.
Adekunle Gold and Simi, who already share a six-year-old daughter, also spoke about their marriage and creative partnership as musicians. According to him, being married to a fellow songwriter has been inspiring and productive.
“It’s interesting to be married to another fantastic songwriter. We bounce off ideas in the home,” he said.
The singer further revealed that their daughter is already showing signs of musical talent.
The interview also highlighted Adekunle Gold’s evolving music career and his latest album, Fuji Xtra, which he confirmed was released on the same night as the interview.
Adekunle Gold, who leads the band “79th Element” a name inspired by the atomic number 79, which represents gold described his current sound as “electrofuji,” a vibrant fusion of traditional fuji music and contemporary percussion-driven production.
Rumours that the couple had welcomed twins began circulating in January after the singer shared a cryptic Snapchat post that read: “Asked God for another child and He blessed me double.”
The post also featured a photo of two baby outfits with the caption “Double Trouble,” fueling speculation that quickly spread across Nigerian and international entertainment platforms.
