AFC Bournemouth have removed defender Alex Jimenez from their squad after the club launched an investigation into posts circulating on social media involving the player.
The 21-year-old Spanish right-back will not be available for Saturday’s Premier League fixture against Fulham as the club continues to look into the matter.
In an official statement released on Friday, Bournemouth said: “AFC Bournemouth are aware of posts circulating on social media involving right-back Alex Jimenez. The club understand the seriousness of the matter, and it is currently being investigated.”
“As a result, Alex will not be included in the squad for tomorrow’s Premier League game against Fulham, and the club will be making no further comment at this time.”
Jimenez, who joined Bournemouth from AC Milan, initially arrived on loan before completing a permanent transfer to the south coast club in February. He signed a long-term contract running until 2031.
Since his arrival, the Spanish defender has made 32 appearances this season and scored once, netting in a 3–2 Premier League victory over Liverpool.
The club has not disclosed the details of the social media posts under investigation, stating only that the issue is being handled internally and treated seriously. Further updates are expected depending on the outcome of the investigation.
