Yahaya Bello Urges Political Aspirants to Embrace Unity, Patience and Service-Driven Leadership

Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has advised political aspirants in Kogi State to prioritise unity, patience, and a service-oriented approach as political activities intensify ahead of future elections.

Speaking during a meeting with members of the Kogi State House of Assembly in Lokoja, according to a statement from his media office, Bello emphasized the need for political maturity and collective progress.

He said, “Unite, be patient, serve people,” urging aspirants to focus on building lasting legacies rather than chasing temporary political victories.

The meeting comes amid increased political realignments following the emergence of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, Bello’s successor and ally, after the 2023 governorship election.

Bello, who governed Kogi State from 2016 to 2024, remains a key figure within the state’s political structure and the All Progressives Congress. He congratulated aspirants who have obtained nomination forms, reminding them that political office is temporary while true leadership is measured by impact and legacy.

He also warned against the use of financial inducements in securing endorsements, directing that any aspirant who paid money for such support should seek a refund.

Furthermore, Bello encouraged reconciliation with constituents, stressing that unity, inclusiveness, and grassroots engagement remain essential for electoral success.

He expressed confidence in the prospects of the aspirants, noting that sustained success would depend on continued commitment to public service.
