Human rights activist Aisha Yesufu has criticised the national leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Seriake Dickson, over comments he made during a recent television interview.
In a post shared on her verified X account on Thursday, Yesufu said Dickson appeared to be positioning himself in competition with the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, instead of focusing on unity within the party.
Her reaction followed Dickson’s interview where he defended the NDC’s leadership and responded to criticisms from some supporters of Obi after the party’s primaries.
Yesufu, however, said no one was challenging Dickson’s leadership, adding that the focus should be on strengthening the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
She stressed that the real priority should be winning the election and addressing Nigeria’s challenges rather than internal disagreements or personal egos.
“There is a whole battle ahead of us. Rescuing Nigeria from the current state it is in should be the main focus, not people’s fragile ego,” she wrote.
