APC Unveils Ekiti Campaign Council, Declares Confidence in Victory Ahead Governorship Election

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has expressed confidence that the party has the numbers and strength to win the forthcoming Ekiti State governorship election as well as the 2027 presidential election.

Yilwatda made the statement during the inauguration of the APC National Campaign Council for the Ekiti governorship election, scheduled for June 20 in Abuja, where he also presented the party’s flag to Governor Biodun Oyebanji, the APC candidate seeking a second term in office.

He commended Oyebanji’s performance, citing achievements in infrastructural development, social protection, scholarships, and healthcare support systems. According to him, the governor has delivered impactful governance, describing him as “one of the best candidates” for the election and praising his ability to connect both roads and people across the state.

Yilwatda further boasted that no political party in Nigeria could match the strength and structure of the APC, insisting that the party is fully prepared for victory. He also said funding would not be an obstacle, noting that the APC has the manpower and capacity to mobilise resources from the grassroots to the national level.

Senate President and Co-Chairman of the council, Godswill Akpabio, also expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve. He urged aspirants under the party’s platform to accept the outcomes of primaries in good faith, while assuring that the National Assembly would endorse the party’s final list of candidates when released. He prayed for victory for the party in the upcoming elections.

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State, who chairs the campaign council, said the party’s objective was ambitious but achievable. He explained that campaign structures had been established across all 16 local government areas and 177 wards in Ekiti, stressing that the campaign would be a grassroots-driven movement focused on youth and women participation. He added that the effort was not just about winning an election but ensuring continuity of governance and expanding the benefits of good leadership in the state.
