Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, has resigned from the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
He said he decided to leave the party following the emergence of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as its presidential candidate.
Lawal explained that, in his view, President Bola Tinubu remains a better option for Nigeria compared to Atiku.
He also alleged that the outcome of the ADC presidential primary was already predetermined in favour of Atiku.
The former SGF said he could not be part of what he described as a “rigging machine” ahead of the 2027 general election, adding that he would not support Atiku’s presidential ambition.
Lawal further criticised Atiku, describing him as incompetent and accusing him of being a tribal and religious bigot who should not be allowed near the presidency.
