Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has approved the appointment of former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, to represent the state on the Board of Trustees of the Northern Nigeria Security Trust Fund.
The announcement was made on Tuesday in a statement issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou.
According to the statement, the appointment underscores the administration’s determination to strengthen regional security structures while ensuring Adamawa State has strong representation in key decisions aimed at safeguarding lives and property.
It further explained that the Northern Nigeria Security Trust Fund was created by the Northern Governors’ Forum as a sub-national security initiative designed to support the operations of security agencies.
The fund is intended to enhance intelligence sharing, improve operational logistics, strengthen collaboration among states, and promote community-driven security efforts across the 19 northern states.
Governor Fintiri, while commenting on the appointment, described Boss Mustapha as an experienced public administrator whose background makes him well suited for the role.
“Boss Mustapha’s wealth of experience in public service, proven leadership capacity, and national stature make him eminently qualified to effectively represent the interests of Adamawa State on this all-important board,” Fintiri said.
The governor also expressed concern over the worsening security situation in the country, particularly in Northern Nigeria.
He noted that the increasing incidents of banditry, terrorism, kidnapping, and communal conflicts highlight the urgency of proactive measures such as the establishment of the security trust fund.
Fintiri expressed confidence that the former SGF would leverage his experience to support the fund’s goals, enhance cooperation among northern states, and ensure Adamawa’s interests are well represented.
“I am confident that he will bring his vast experience to bear in advancing the objectives of the Trust Fund, fostering synergy among states and ensuring that Adamawa’s voice is heard in the collective quest for a safer Northern Nigeria,” he added.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working closely with federal and regional stakeholders to strengthen security and protect the welfare of residents across Adamawa State.
