His death was confirmed in a statement released by his family, who said the veteran musician passed away on Tuesday evening while surrounded by loved ones.
The family described Bryson as a devoted husband, father, friend, and artist whose influence extended far beyond music, noting the depth of his personal and professional legacy.
“He transitioned peacefully… surrounded by the love of his family and those closest to him. We are tremendously moved by the outpouring of love, prayers and support from fans, friends, and colleagues around the world,” the statement read. “His legacy and music will live on for generations to come.”
Reports indicated that Bryson had recently suffered a stroke and had been receiving medical care prior to his passing.
Over the course of his career, Bryson became widely known for soulful ballads and memorable collaborations, including “If Ever You’re in My Arms Again,” “Can You Stop the Rain,” as well as Disney classics such as “Beauty and the Beast” with Céline Dion and “A Whole New World” with Regina Belle.
