NECO Warns Public Against Fake Supervisor Recruitment Portals

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has warned members of the public about the activities of fraudsters operating fake online recruitment portals for the engagement of examination supervisors.

In a statement signed by the Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Azeez Sani, the Council disclosed that the fraudulent platforms are requesting applicants to submit details of their academic credentials and make payments before they can be considered for recruitment.

NECO clarified that it does not require any payment from teachers seeking to serve as supervisors during the forthcoming 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) Internal.

The Council further explained that, in line with the recommendations of the Ministerial Committee on the Improvement of Quality of Examination in Nigeria, it has replaced the traditional analogue method of recruiting supervisors and assistant supervisors with a fully electronic recruitment process.

According to the statement, qualified pensionable teachers on Grade Level 12 and above who are at least 30 years old and interested in serving as supervisors for the 2026 SSCE Internal examination are expected to apply directly through the official NECO recruitment portal.

NECO emphasized that the recruitment process is fully automated and does not require the involvement of any third party.

The Council stated that the new digital recruitment system is intended to eliminate fraud, strengthen examination supervision, reduce examination malpractice, and promote fairness, transparency, and credibility in the selection process.

It further disclosed that more than 22,000 supervisors will be recruited for the 2026 SSCE Internal examination, which is scheduled to commence on June 15, 2026.

NECO therefore urged members of the public to disregard unofficial recruitment portals and refrain from making payments to any individual or group claiming to facilitate the recruitment process.
