Former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, has revealed that he has been living with diabetes for over 40 years, saying the condition is not curable but can be properly managed with discipline and a healthy lifestyle.
He shared this during an interview on AIT News, where he spoke about how he has been able to stay active and maintain his health despite the long-term diagnosis.
Obasanjo explained that he has managed the illness over the years by sticking to a routine that includes regular exercise, careful eating, and getting enough rest.
According to him, many chronic diseases may not have a cure, but they can be controlled if people are intentional about how they live and take care of their bodies.
He added that exercise remains a key part of his routine, noting that he plays squash about three times a week Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays depending on his schedule.
The former president also stressed the importance of diet and rest, warning that unhealthy eating habits can lead to serious consequences, and saying he has remained committed to managing his condition through a balanced lifestyle.
