Tinubu Intensifies Rescue Efforts Following Abduction of Teachers, Pupils in Oyo

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sympathised with the families of teachers and pupils abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, saying the pain and uncertainty they are going through are deeply troubling.

In a statement posted on his official X account on Monday, the President said no child should be taken from the safety of a classroom and no parent should have to live through the anguish of not knowing the whereabouts of their loved ones.

He assured the affected families that the Federal Government is doing everything possible to secure the safe return of the victims. According to him, efforts are being intensified as security agencies continue operations to rescue the abducted teachers and pupils.

Tinubu disclosed that he has directed the deployment of a specialised security unit with advanced rescue capabilities to support ongoing efforts and strengthen the search for the victims.

The President also announced the approval of the recruitment of 1,000 forest guards in partnership with the Oyo State Government. The move came after a high-level Federal Government delegation visited the affected communities of Esiele and Yawota to assess the situation firsthand.

He added that the request by residents for a military base in the area is being given urgent attention, noting that the government remains committed to improving security and preventing similar incidents in the future.
