Nigerian Fuji musician Shanko Rasheed Atanda has announced the tragic passing of his first son, Jamaldeen Atanda.
The singer shared the heartbreaking news on his Instagram page on Friday, expressing profound sorrow over the loss. While he did not provide details about the circumstances or timing of his son’s death, he offered prayers for Jamaldeen’s peaceful rest.
“So sad, no parent prays to lose a child in their lifetime, but Alhamdulilahi Jamaldeen Emrs Atanda JNR rest well my champ. I will surely tell you all about it when I see you again. Omo Ola sun reeee,” Shanko wrote.
Following the announcement, fans, colleagues, and other figures in the entertainment industry flooded his social media page with messages of condolences and support.
The tragedy comes just a few months after Shanko celebrated Jamaldeen’s 12th birthday in December with a heartfelt tribute, praising his son for the joy he brought into his life and the pride he felt watching him grow.
“Happy Birthday to my amazing first son! You changed my life the moment you arrived and continue to make me proud every single day. I love the young man you’re becoming,” Shanko had written earlier.
“Watching you grow has been my greatest joy. Keep shining, keep dreaming, and keep being the incredible person you are. So proud of you. May your year be filled with laughter, growth, and endless blessings. I love you forever, son.”
