Nottingham Forest Sack Head Coach Sean Dyche, Club Now Seeks Fourth Manager of the Season

Nottingham Forest have relieved Sean Dyche of his duties as head coach, making him the third permanent manager to leave the club during the 2025–26 Premier League season. The decision came early Thursday following a goalless draw against bottom‑placed Wolverhampton Wanderers, leaving Forest 17th in the league and just three points above the relegation zone with 12 matches remaining.

“Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that Sean Dyche has been relieved of his duties as head coach. We would like to thank Sean and his staff for their efforts during their time at the club and we wish them the best of luck for the future. We will be making no further comment at this time.”

Dyche, 54, departs after just 114 days and 17 matches in charge, becoming another casualty in a season marked by rapid managerial change at the City Ground. He joined the Reds in October 2025 on a contract through summer 2027, following the dismissal of Ange Postecoglou, whose tenure lasted only 39 days, and the earlier exit of Nuno Espírito Santo.

Forest’s persistent managerial upheaval three sackings already this season has drawn widespread attention and concern from supporters and pundits alike. The club, driven by the ownership of Evangelos Marinakis, has struggled to find consistent results despite occasional bright spots, including qualification for the knockout stages of the UEFA Europa League earlier in the campaign.

Under Dyche, Forest registered six wins, four draws, and eight losses across all competitions. Despite creating numerous chances in the Wolves match — 35 shots without scoring the absence of goals and inconsistent league form contributed to mounting pressure on the former Burnley and Everton boss.

With Forest now poised to make Premier League history by appointing a fourth head coach in a single season, club officials have reportedly opened talks with Vítor Pereira, the former Wolves manager and coach with previous ties to owner Marinakis from his time at Olympiakos. Pereira, who kept Wolves in the Premier League last season, is considered the club’s leading candidate to fill the vacancy.

Forest’s next competitive fixture comes on February 19 in the Europa League against Fenerbahçe, adding urgency to the managerial appointment ahead of crucial matches both domestically and in Europe.

This season has seen Nottingham Forest slip from a strong seventh‑place finish last term into a relegation battle. Their league form has been inconsistent, with just two wins in their last 10 Premier League outings and early exits in domestic cup competitions.

Nottingham Forest continue their managerial hunt, with Vítor Pereira leading early discussions but no official appointment confirmed as of today.
