The Nigerian military has arrested a suspected bandit known as Sule Yellow, who allegedly used the TikTok handle @suleyellow6 to promote and flaunt the activities of terrorists online.
According to reports, the suspect was apprehended shortly after reportedly collecting ransom money from the family of a kidnapped victim. Prior to his arrest, Sule Yellow had been highly active on TikTok, frequently showcasing bandit operations and kidnappings on the platform.
On March 4, he reportedly appeared in a livestream alongside another suspected bandit, Auta, and several associates, drawing significant attention to his online activity.
Security sources revealed that operatives had been closely monitoring Sule Yellow’s movements and social media activity before executing the arrest. Following the operation, authorities also disabled the TikTok account linked to the suspect, effectively removing his online presence.
The arrest marks a major development in efforts to curb the use of social media platforms by criminal gangs to publicize and glorify acts of terror in Nigeria.
