Nigerian music icon Innocent Idibia, widely known as 2Baba, has stirred public conversation following a bold assertion about Nigeria’s progress over the years.
Speaking during a recent interview on Wazobia TV, the award-winning artist expressed his belief that the country is in a better position today than it was in the past, despite ongoing challenges.
According to him, while Nigeria’s development remains a work in progress, there are noticeable improvements that should not be overlooked. He emphasized his personal commitment to promoting a positive image of the country on the global stage.
“I believe we are better off than we were many years ago. It’s still a work in progress, but I will continue to play my part,” he said. “I have appointed myself as an ambassador of Nigeria, and I will keep representing the country positively wherever I go.”
2Baba further noted that his self-assigned role as a cultural ambassador is driven by a desire to contribute meaningfully to national development and reshape global perceptions about Nigeria.
However, his remarks have generated mixed reactions across social media platforms. While some supporters agreed with his perspective on gradual national progress, others criticized the statement, arguing that it overlooks prevailing concerns such as economic hardship and insecurity affecting many Nigerians.
