A member of the convention planning committee of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dino Melaye, has declared that no force can stop the party from holding its scheduled convention, insisting that all legal and financial requirements for the venue have been fully met.
The convention, slated for Tuesday, had reportedly faced uncertainty following attempts to deny the party access to the venue. According to Melaye, organisers were confronted with efforts to shut the facility’s gates and were asked to vacate the premises.
Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show, Melaye revealed that the planning committee stood its ground, citing a binding agreement with the venue owners and evidence of full payment.
“We were asked to leave and there were attempts to shut the gates, but we refused because we have a duly signed contract and complete payment receipts,” he said. “No force can override a valid agreement. The convention will go on as planned.”
Melaye emphasized that the party remains resolute in asserting its rights and proceeding with the event, adding that all necessary documentation is in place to justify their position.
Beyond the venue dispute, the former lawmaker expressed confidence in ADC’s political momentum, positioning the party as a formidable challenger to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
“The exercise will hold. ADC is growing stronger, and we are determined to challenge and unseat the APC,” he stated.
