Chelsea Blow: Estevao Ruled Out for Season as World Cup Doubt Looms After Hamstring Injury

Chelsea winger Estevao has been ruled out for the remainder of the English season, with his availability for the upcoming World Cup now uncertain, according to interim manager Calum McFarlane.

The 19-year-old Brazilian suffered a hamstring injury during Chelsea’s 1–0 defeat to Manchester United last week.

McFarlane, who has returned to lead the team following the sacking of Liam Rosenior earlier this week, confirmed the setback ahead of Chelsea’s FA Cup semi-final clash against Leeds United on Sunday.

“Estevao, unfortunately, won’t play for us again this season. He’s going to be out for a little bit of time,” McFarlane said.

“So that’s really unfortunate, especially for someone so young and so talented, but we’re here to support him and be around him.”

When asked about the player’s chances of featuring at the World Cup in Canada, Mexico, and the United States, McFarlane admitted uncertainty over his recovery timeline.

“I’m not sure on that, if I’m honest. I just know that he won’t be available for us, so I’m sure he’s very hopeful he can make the World Cup, but I don’t know on that,” he added.
