Tragedy on the Pitch: Ex-Super Eagles Striker Michael Eneramo Dies After Collapsing During Match

Former Super Eagles striker Michael Eneramo has died after collapsing during a football match in Kaduna State.

According to reports by SCORENigeria, the 40-year-old slumped while playing at the Angwan Yelwa pitch in the Television area of Kaduna on Friday.

Eneramo, who had come on as a second-half substitute, reportedly collapsed suddenly without any physical contact during the game.

A source said efforts to revive him at the scene were unsuccessful before he was rushed to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

“He slumped and died right on the spot. Efforts to revive him were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead at the hospital,” the source disclosed.

The former international, who had retired from professional football, enjoyed a career that saw him feature for clubs including Beşiktaş, Espérance Sportive de Tunis, and Lobi Stars.

Before his passing, he was reportedly running a football academy, contributing to grassroots football development.

Meanwhile, the official Super Eagles X handle paid tribute to the late striker, posting his photo alongside the message: “Rest in peace Michael.”
