Nollywood actor and producer, Olaide Olabanji, has publicly accused his colleague, Mercy Aigbe, of ingratitude, alleging that she repaid his early support with hostility and disregard.
Speaking during a recent interview with media personality Oyinmomo, Olabanji claimed he played a pivotal role in introducing Aigbe to the Nigerian film industry. According to him, their first encounter dates back to 2004, when he discovered her working in a shop and encouraged her to pursue acting.
“I brought Mercy Aigbe into the movie industry. I saw her in a shop in 2004 and asked her if she could act. She said yes, and I put her on,” he said.
Olabanji, however, expressed disappointment over what he described as a drastic shift in Aigbe’s attitude following her rise to fame. He alleged that the once friendly and approachable actress has since become distant and unwelcoming, even going as far as blocking him on social media.
He further claimed that her resentment towards him has deepened over time, alleging that she now treats him with hostility whenever they meet and, at times, behaves as though she wishes him harm.
“But now she is blocking me. To her, it is as if I should no longer exist,” he added.
As of the time of this report, Mercy Aigbe has not responded to the allegations.
