A 100-level student of Madonna University, Okija, Anambra State, identified as William Fubara, has died following reports of alleged bullying and physical assault by fellow students.
Accounts circulating online, including claims from friends of the deceased, allege that Fubara was repeatedly harassed over a period of time. Some of the claims suggest he was targeted based on perceived mannerisms and unverified suspicions regarding his personal identity. These allegations, however, have not been independently confirmed.
According to these accounts, the student reportedly experienced sustained intimidation, with further claims that similar incidents involving suspected harassment of students had occurred within the hostel environment in the past.
Friends of the deceased also allege that Fubara left behind personal messages and testimonies in which he described his experiences and identified individuals he believed were involved in the alleged harassment. These claims remain unverified by authorities.
Reports indicate that Fubara was later hospitalized after suffering severe medical complications, including seizure episodes, and was admitted into intensive care, where he subsequently died.
Meanwhile, the university is said to have commenced internal investigations into the circumstances surrounding his death.
As of the time of filing this report, no official statement has been issued confirming the allegations or providing detailed findings.
