Governor Chukwuma Soludo has approved the appointment of new leaders to head critical health sector agencies in Anambra State, in a move aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery and institutional capacity.
Under the new appointments, Dr. Ezeaka Augustine Uwaeme has been named Executive Secretary of the Anambra State Health Insurance Agency, while Dr. Obianuji Chinelo Okoye will serve as Executive Secretary of the Anambra State Primary Health Care Development Agency. Dr. Hillary Nkem Okeke has also been appointed Executive Director of the Anambra State AIDS Control Agency.
Dr. Uwaeme, a seasoned medical practitioner with over two decades of experience, brings extensive clinical and administrative expertise. His training spans institutions such as Thomas Jefferson University, the Jefferson Ultrasound Radiology and Education Institute in India, the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, and the University of Ilorin.
Dr. Okoye is an accomplished physician with more than 20 years of integrated clinical and administrative experience. She holds an MBBS from Ebonyi State University, alongside a Master’s degree in Public Health and a Diploma in Family Medicine from the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria.
Also appointed, Dr. Okeke is an award-winning medical expert and academic with research interests in epidemiology, global health management, and community care. A graduate of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, he also holds a Master’s degree in Public Health and is affiliated with several professional bodies.
The appointments signal the state government’s renewed push to reposition its health institutions for improved service delivery and sustainable public health outcomes.
