American singer D4vd has been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the death of a 14-year-old girl, marking a major development in a case that has gripped authorities in Los Angeles.
The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that the 21-year-old artist, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, is currently in custody without bail. Officials said the case will be formally presented to the District Attorney’s office on Monday.
Police allege that D4vd is linked to the death of Celeste Rivas Hernandez, a teenager who was reported missing in April 2024. Her remains were discovered in September 2025 inside a Tesla vehicle reportedly connected to the singer.
Authorities said the discovery was made at a Hollywood tow yard after complaints of a strong odour emanating from the car. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner described the body as severely decomposed, noting that the cause of death has yet to be determined as investigations continue.
Investigators believe the remains may have been in the vehicle for several weeks prior to their discovery.
The case had initially been treated as a death investigation while evidence was being gathered. Court filings later identified the singer as a “target” of grand jury proceedings, with some records sealed by judicial order.
Before his arrest, D4vd had reportedly been cooperating with authorities through legal representatives, while maintaining silence publicly.
The unfolding case has already had significant repercussions for the rising music star, including cancelled tour dates and the loss of key brand partnerships.
Authorities say investigations remain ongoing.
