Nigerian Fuji musician Remi Aluko has opened up about his long-running battle with glaucoma, revealing that the condition has severely affected his vision and left him unable to see.
The singer made the disclosure during a recent interview on Oyinmomo TV, where he spoke candidly about his health challenges and the impact they have had on his daily life.
According to Aluko, he has been living with glaucoma for years and has previously undergone eye surgery in an effort to manage the condition. Despite those medical interventions, he said his eyesight has continued to deteriorate.
Providing an update on his current condition, the Fuji artiste said he is no longer able to see and described his situation as being no different from that of a blind person. However, he noted that many people are unaware of his condition because he has chosen not to allow it define him.
“I’m a glaucoma patient. I’m managing myself; I’m currently not seeing. Despite being a glaucoma patient, many people don’t know. There’s no difference between me and a blind person now, but no one knows because I don’t let my condition weigh me down,” he said.
Aluko added that he remains determined to stay positive despite the challenges. He said he has learned to take care of himself independently and deliberately avoids dwelling on his condition, explaining that he does not want to fall into depression.
