Isaac Fayose has publicly criticised his elder brother and former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, over recent comments linking insecurity in Oyo State to Governor Seyi Makinde. He described the remarks as unnecessary and urged the former governor to refrain from making controversial statements without sufficient evidence.
In a video shared on his Instagram page on Tuesday, Isaac questioned his brother’s criticism of the Oyo State government, arguing that insecurity is a national challenge that has affected several states across the country. He also referenced kidnapping incidents that occurred in Ekiti State during previous administrations.
“Four or five years ago, people were kidnapped in Ekiti State, and you supported the governor then. Why didn’t you ask the governor about the security vote or why he couldn’t protect the people?” Isaac said while challenging what he described as selective criticism.
He further argued that states governed by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), including Borno, Katsina, Zamfara, Niger and Kwara, have also suffered from violent attacks and insecurity. According to him, it would be unfair to single out one governor while ignoring similar challenges elsewhere.
Isaac expressed concern over what he believes is his brother’s growing tendency to make provocative political comments. He advised Ayodele Fayose to adopt a more measured approach to public discourse, adding that former governors do not have to comment on every issue to remain politically relevant.
The criticism follows comments made by Ayodele Fayose during a televised interview on Channels Television, where he suggested that the recent abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State may have been orchestrated by the state government to embarrass President Bola Tinubu. The former governor claimed Governor Makinde did not respond swiftly to the incident and only visited affected families after attending political engagements. “I sometimes believe that the abduction at an Oyo school was orchestrated by the Oyo State Government to blackmail President Tinubu,” Fayose had stated.
