Panic gripped commuters and residents on Wednesday as a petrol-laden tanker went up in flames along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, directly in front of the NASFAT Camp.
The tanker reportedly overturned while in motion and caught fire shortly after, sending plumes of thick black smoke into the sky and causing chaos in the area.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as terrifying, with many vehicles forced to stop abruptly as the fire spread.

The fire is horrible.”
At the time of filing this report, emergency responders had yet to arrive at the scene.
This incident follows closely on the heels of another tanker explosion that occurred on Monday between the Oremeji and Olorunsogo areas of the same expressway. That explosion also caused severe traffic congestion. Although no casualties were reported in Monday’s incident, the blaze took several hours to extinguish and required the intervention of the Oyo State Fire Service.
