Nigerian singer Bella Shmurda has said that music goes beyond entertainment, describing it as a powerful instrument for societal development and positive change.
Speaking in the For Bunmi documentary, the ‘Cash App’ crooner characterised music as a form of “warfare,” explaining that it plays multiple roles in shaping society.
“Music is warfare. Music is a tool for the society. Music is a tool of progress. Music is an instrument of goodwill. Music is a tool to keep people sane, to put them in the right state of mind, to make them dance away their sorrow, and to make them feel alive and self-conscious,” he said.
The singer also revealed that fatherhood has had a significant influence on his artistic direction, making him more mindful of the content he produces.
According to him, he is now more deliberate about his music, as he wants his children to grow up feeling proud of his work.
